So, at the beginning of Summer this year, I started reading Kelly Rae Roberts book Taking Flight. I bought the book a few years back and it had been on my shelf collecting dust ever since. But from the day I picked it up and started reading I felt a connection. It was like connecting with my people, and I was alone. But there was an awaking in a part of my soul that had long been buried and forgotten.
As I read through the chapters, not only do I learn some new art technique, I seem to be discovering new things about myself. For me this book is like a personal journey, and some days are bright and filled with purple unicorns and the creativity flows, and others are filled with memories, that are hard to face. But I’m trying to just enjoy the process and have fun.
Please feel free to grab a copy and work with me, and be sure to share your thoughts and feelings on the process. I would love to hear from you and it would be nice to know I’m not alone.
Here is my Whisper Journal, which is taught at the end of chapter 1.
Today’s piece is still a WIP,
Thanks so much for stopping by…
Ok, if you take a look around, you’ll quickly notice that blogging hasn’t been at the top of my list this year. So, I’m hopping to change that with this years 29 Faces art challenge.
Here’s the 411
The challenge is to draw 29 faces during the month of September. I think it will be good to practice drawing faces and they don’t have to be human faces. Animals are fine to, in fact anything you created yourself that fits the description “face”, works and if you don’t have time to finish one post it anyway, they all count. So, grab your journal and join us on this adventure….
So without further to do here is my first face.
Grab you journals, and hold on to your hats for the best art challenge by far. Are you brave enough? The join in the fun and come play along with some of the best artist you’ll ever meet. The fun starts Sept 1.
My first assignment for Year of the Fairy Tale with Carla Sonheim, we’re working with the fairy tale “The frog princess”. I have never read the fairy tale before and I enjoy it.
My Princess, from the discovery period.
Carla is an illustrator and the class id run from that prospective, and all ready I feel that I am learning everyday with the assignment she give and tricks she shared. Without giving way too much of the information of the class, I wanted to share some of my drawings from this month with you, and say that if you haven’t read “The frog princess” do, it’s really cute.

Here it is the last week in February and it’s hard to believe that spring is here in North Carolina already. Just last week we were out with the girls sledding for the first time, and today we have sunny 65 degree weather. The cardinals are singing, flowers are blooming, and the sky’s are clear. Only in North Carolina can the weather change so much is such little time.
This year I started back with my weekly videos and as of today, we are up to week 4. The new camera is working great, the picture is clearer and I’m really happy about that. However the technical stuff that goes with it sucks. It’s taken hours to get the videos just to upload to the computer for cropping, and another hour to upload to YouTube so I really need to figure out what’s going on there. But we’re up to 42 subscribers on YouTube and I’m really excited. I’m even playing with the idea of when we hit a hundred subscribers doing a giveaway of some sort. Just not sure what to give away yet, but it will be good.
I’ve also started some new classes I’m very excited about, and you should start seeing a lot of postings on all that soon. But for today, here is week 4 videos. I hope you enjoy.
